Introduction

GCloud Backup allows you to permanently delete specific files, folders, or devices from your cloud backup. This action frees up cloud storage and ensures that the data will not be re-uploaded to the cloud unless modifications are made locally on your smartphone.

Delete Data via the GCloud Backup App on Android Device

When you delete files from your backup, they will not be automatically backed up again unless the original files are modified locally on the device where they are stored.

Step 1. Ensure that your GCloud Backup app is updated to the latest version.

Step 2. Open the GCloud Backup app.

Step 3. On the Media screen, all backed-up photos and videos are displayed by default. Select the file(s) that you want to delete by long-pressing on it(them), and tap the Delete icon.

Step 4. In the opened Confirm Deletion pop-up dialog, choose from the following options;

  • Delete from backup: This option will delete the selected file(s) from the cloud backup while retaining the original file(s) in your device’s Gallery.
  • Delete from device & backup: This option will delete the selected file(s) from both the cloud backup and your device’s Gallery, helping to free up storage on your device.

Once done selecting the needed option, tap the Delete option to proceed.

Step 5. Allow the GCloud Backup app the necessary time to process your deletion request.

The GCloud Backup app does not support deleting contacts, messages, call logs, documents or music files

 

Delete Data via the GCloud Backup App on iOS Device

When you delete files from your backup, they will not be automatically backed up again unless the original files are modified locally on the device where they are stored.

Step 1. Ensure that your GCloud Backup app is updated to the latest version.

Step 2. Open the GCloud Backup app.

Step 3. Tap the menu icon at the upper-left corner and tap the Delete Backed Up Files option.

Step 4. Select the device you wish to delete from its backup.

Step 5. Select the data category you wish to delete from (Photos, Videos, Contacts, etc)

Step 6. Select the file(s) that you want to delete by long-pressing on it(them), and tap the Delete button.

Step 7. A confirmation pop-up dialog will be displayed. Tap OK to proceed.

Step 8. Allow the GCloud Backup app the necessary time to process your deletion request and show you the Completed dialog.

 

Delete Data via the GCloud Backup Web Console

Step 1. Visit the GCloud Backup login page here.

Step 2. Choose your login method (email/password, Google ID, Apple ID, or Facebook ID) based on how you registered your GCloud Backup account.

Step 3. If you are using a smartphone, the mobile-optimized version of the GCloud Backup website will load. You can switch to the desktop view using the action icon at the upper-right corner.

Step 4. Choose the device you wish to delete from its backup.

Step 5. To delete photos, videos, documents, or music files, start by selecting the appropriate category to display its contents. Then, choose the file(s) or folder(s) you want to delete and tap the Delete icon. A confirmation pop-up will appear—tap OK to confirm. Allow the GCloud Backup service a few moments to process the deletion and display a success notification.

For deleting contacts, call logs, or messages backups, select the relevant category to view its contents. From the date dropdown menu, select the backup you wish to delete, tap the menu icon, and choose Delete All.
