Since G Cloud is a backup tool, it needs permissions to backup and restore your data.

Permission Why it is needed?
Your messages:

  • Read your text messages (SMS or MMS)

  • Receive text messages (SMS)
Because G Cloud can backup and restore messages.
Network communication:

  • Full network access
  • View network connections
  • View Wi-Fi connections
  • Connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi
  • Receive data from Internet

Because:

  • G Cloud needs your WiFi connection to upload and download your data during the backup and restore processes.
  • G Cloud can backup the system settings which includes the saved WiFi networks but G Cloud won’t backup their passwords.
Your personal information:

  • Read your own contact card
  • Read calendar events plus confidential information
  • Add or modify calendar events and send email to guests without owners’ knowledge
Because G Cloud supports backing up and restoring the calendar events, any email reminders or invitations to guests, so it needs read and write permissions but G Cloud will never send any of these events.

Storage:

  • Modify or delete the contents of your USB storage
Because the user can delete the photos from the Cloud Gallery, so G Cloud should have the permissions to do that.

Lock screen:

Because G Cloud supports locating the device using Find My Android, when you ring the phone, G Cloud will unlock the screen and show the lost phone page.
