Backing up your important files and data is essential for protection. With your G Cloud Backup account, you can have up to three (3) devices connected to the account and backing up data at the same time. This guide outlines how to manage your devices and what occurs if you attempt to back up additional devices.

Want to allow a family member to back up their device(s), too? Check out our Family Plans.

Automatic Backup Handling

If your G Cloud Backup account is already backing up three (3) devices, here is what happens when you log in from a new (4th) device using the G Cloud Backup app:

The system will automatically disconnect the oldest device to make space for the new one, ensuring that your most recent devices are backed up without needing additional steps.

This article provides instructions on how to manage your devices and choose which ones to keep connected.

The Manage Backup Devices feature is only available on the Android version of the G Cloud Backup app.

How to Disconnect a Device

Disconnecting a device will stop the G Cloud Backup app on that device from performing any further backups. The device’s data will remain in the Cloud.
  1. Ensure that your G Cloud Backup app is updated to the latest version.
  2. Open the G Cloud Backup app.
  3. Tap the Menu ≡ icon located in the upper-left corner, then tap Settings.
  4. On the Settings screen, tap Manage Backup Devices. A list of your backed-up devices will appear.
  5. Choose the device you want to disconnect and tap Disconnect.
  6. Confirm your choice when prompted.
